# 3. Importing Files into NVivo

## Video: *Importing Files In NVivo 12*

{% hint style="danger" %}
WARNING: NVivo looks different on Mac and Windows. Whilst I've tried to make sure that I cover all bases in this online resource - I only have a license for a Windows version of NVivo.

With the help of my community leaders I hope I'll be able to make these modules as accessible as possible for all users, but I might definitely miss the nuances of both versions.

For help, I'd recommend checking out the NVivo forums [here](https://forums.nvivobyqsr.com/), or by asking a question on our Facebook group [here](https://www.facebook.com/groups/unimelbnvivo).

## Task: Import Files into NVivo

1. Create a new folder for "interviews" (a sample of which can be downloaded [here](https://github.com/AlexShermon/RCS-NVivo/blob/master/README.md)) or any data which you would like to import into NVivo
2. Import your files into NVivo

### Reflection

* Why might it be important to provide descriptions for your file folders?
* How might you organise your folders in NVivo?
